چکیده

A trilayer pellicle that consists of a high-index center layer that is symmetrically coated on both sides by a low-index film can be designed to produce differential reflection and transmission phase shifts of +/- 90 degrees at oblique incidence and equal throughput for the p and the s polarizations. Such a device splits a beam of incident linearly polarized light into two orthogonal circularly polarized components that travel in well-separated angular directions. Examples of infrared dual quarter-wave retarders that use a symmetrically coated Ge pellicle at 77 degrees angle of incidence are presented. A 50-50% splitter requires a symmetric pellicle with at least five layers. Error analysis shows that the thicknesses of the high-index layers must be tightly controlled. These circular polarization beam splitters are intended for operation with a well-collimated light source and can be used as the basis of a novel circular polarization Michelson interferometer.

Reflection coefficients of p- and s-polarized light by a quarter-wave layer: explicit expressions and application to beam splitters.

The complex-amplitude reflection coefficients of p- and s-polarized light by a transparent freestanding, embedded, or deposited quarter-wave layer (QWL) are derived as explicit functions of the angle of incidence and layer refractive index. This provides the basis for the design of 50%-50% beam splitters for incident s-polarized or unpolarized light that use a high-index (e.g., TiO2 or Ge) QWL ...

بهینه‌سازی بازتابش آینه‌های نانو - چند لایه‌ای متناوب پرتو ایکس در سه انرژی لبه جذبTi-Kα و Co-Kα و Cr-Kα

In this paper, a practical simulation method for optimizing of x-ray reflection of nano-multilayer mirrors in three different edge energies: Cr-Kα, Co-Kα, and Ti-Kα is discussed in order to obtain the most reflection based on quarter-wave thickness method (QW). In this method, the reflected x-ray will have a constructive interference, and a peak, called Brag peak, will appear in reflection curv...

Optical properties of parylene and its use as substrate in beam splitters.

The optical properties of a commercial parylene pellicle are obtained using a classical oscillator model with a single oscillator. Using a standard design antireflection stack and beam-splitter multilayer films coated on this pellicle, its performance is greatly improved, flattening the curve and increasing its useful spectral range.

Tilted bilayer membranes as simple transmission quarter-wave retardation plates.

A tilted bilayer membrane, which consists of two thin films of transparent optically isotropic materials of different refractive indices, can function as a transmission quarter-wave retarder (QWR) at a high angle of incidence. A specific design using a cryolite-Si membrane in the infrared is presented, and its tolerances to small shifts of wavelength, incidence angle, and film thickness errors ...

Wave Propagation at the Boundary Surface of Inviscid Fluid Half-Space and Thermoelastic Diffusion Solid Half-Space with Dual-Phase-Lag Models

The present investigation deals  with the reflection and transmission phenomenon due to incident plane longitudinal wave at a plane interface between inviscid fluid half-space and a thermoelastic diffusion solid half-space with dual-phase-lag heat transfer (DPLT) and dual-phase-lag diffusion (DPLD) models. The theory of thermoelasticity with dual-phase-lag heat transfer developed by Roychoudhar...
